AfroVeda has been invited to speak at Asheshi University in Ghana, Africa in September 2009, where we will have the opportunity to not only present our Ayurvedic-inspired products to the local communities, but also to establish relationships with vendors to bring Fairtrade products directly from Africa to you! Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives. This will most certainly be an extremely rewarding trip, and we sincerely thank Dr. Erinn Ransom, professor of Africana Studies at Asheshi University, for her invitation.
